Voltagabbana
Afferma il Petrarca: “È saggio mutar consiglio”.
Un detto diffuso sostiene che: “Solo lo stupido non cambia mai parere”.
Il politico, quando non riesce proprio a tacere – cioè quasi mai – è più sul positivo e afferma con tono vibrato e pretestuoso: “Si deve cambiare”. Ma, allora, i voltagabbana chi sono? I più furbi sono quelli che dicono: “io non sono cambiato, è il mio partito di ieri che è cambiato!” e così pensano di spiegare, pur mutando continuamente parere, perché rimangono sempre seduti sulla stessa poltrona. Il loro cruccio è che, a forza di giravolte, non sanno nemmeno più chi sono.
Turncoats
The Petrarca asserts: “It is sage to change advice”.
A common maxim says that: “Only the stupid never change opinion”.
The politician, when is not silent – i. e. hardly ever – is more positive and he affirms with vigorous and specious tone: “We must change”. But, then, who are the turncoats? The more clever ones are those that say: “I am not changed, my party is changed!” and so they think to explain, even changing continuously opinion, why they stay always sit down on the same chair. Their worry is that, by dint of insisting of spins, they do not know even who they are.
