A mio giudizio estetico e fonetico, il più bel nome femminile è “Maria”, in italiano (per transito dal latino liturgico) come in nessuna altra lingua, persino l’ebraico. Merito di quell’accento sulla “i” e la vocale finale “a”, che ne fanno un capolavoro musicale unico. Ben lo sapeva Leonard Bernstein, che in West Side Story musicò la famosa canzone, in cui il protagonista canta “Maria”. È un nome di una bellezza assoluta, l’unico che poteva essere dato alla madre di Dio. L’origine Maryam è di Galilea, ma Maria è d’Italia, anche se la maggior parte degli italiani non lo sanno.

In my aesthetic and phonetic opinion, the most beautiful female name is “Maria” in Italian (for transit from the Latin language) as in neither language, even Hebrew. Thanks the accent on the “i” and the final vowel “a”, which make it an unique musical masterpiece. Leonard Bernstein well knew of this name, and he composed the famous song in West Side Story set to music, in which the protagonist sings “Maria.” It is a name of an absolute beauty, the only one that could be given to the mother of God. The Maryam origin of Galilee, but Maria is in Italy, although the majority of Italians do not know it.
